So this New Year what do you have? A list of Resolutions or a dreamy Wish-list!

“I will start getting up early!” “I will be a gym regular for sure; I need to lose those extra pounds man!” “I won’t lose my temper no matter what!” “No smoking from tomorrow!” Oops! Does that sound like last year, or no a year before that, or wait maybe it was in 2009! So many of us or in fact most of us are stuck with the same resolutions with every passing year. I think I would better say we have the same wish-list every year than perhaps a New Year resolution! It’s our accumulated desires which get a voice through the word resolution and we hope to follow them at least some time or some year. The word resolution is just to give a “light kick” to our desires, so much so that we follow it for a day at least. Like I remember the new year’s morning for the year 2013 which was the only day that year when I woke up at five, went for a walk and smiled and wished good morning to every person whom I passed by that day! From the next day and onwards I was the same lazy and gru

Feminism! Are we heading in the right way?

Feminism! Big word right? Yes, I am a woman and a feminist myself, I do believe in the safety, opportunities and the independence for women, and I also believe that women should have all the rights to decide and carve the events in their lives and shape their own destinies. But does that make me a woman who deliberately imposes things on men? Does that make me a woman who deliberately runs away from things which have otherwise been beautifully recognized as a woman’s duties? Women have come a long way from the time when the feminist ideas first evolved. They have conquered many battles, and today they hold a much better position in most of the areas of life, in many if not all the portions of the world. Then why do we see women getting against what used to be “their own”, why do see women focusing more on what they shouldn’t do than what they should do. Why instead of focusing on equal rights to get educated,  work and earn, women have rather started turning their backs on househ

How many years do you think constitute a generation gap?

Well! It was during one of a conversation with a colleague of mine that we started talking about the changes in attitude of a slightly younger age group nowadays. The slightly younger I realized was not more than a five year younger to me or the average adult. While I could still connect a little more to the way these slightly younger people think, she couldn’t! While I still felt that I was one of them in some ways, she felt she was a generation behind from them. Things around us are changing way too fast! In terms of social media for example, by the time you get used to Instagram, the world may call you outdated saying that “Snapchat” is the new in. By the time you master one particular technique or idea in your professional field, someone who joined a year later to you may come up saying that this is an old-way to work! Till a few years back where a range of 25-28 was considered ideal to get married and have a child, today most people have their own definition of “settlement”, w

Lights… Sweets…Crackers???

Wow, I logged into twitter and couldn’t help being a part of this debate which was sadly leading in all bizarre directions! Lights…check, sweets…check…but why no crackers??? Some went in favor while the others had a lot of rage on this matter. I was wondering if latter were the same people who otherwise have an air purifier in their rooms and complain about the increasing pollution/smog etc. The debates were as intense so as to involve other religions, other festivals, and some of them even asked for a ban on other things which as per me were totally unrelated to the issue of pollution or crackers. This sounded so much like inhibiting one good to happen because of some other unrelated problems. Why should bursting crackers be the only way to celebrate Diwali? This festival surely offers us a lot more; from a variety of lights that you can put up to decorate your place to meeting people, socializing, preparing sweets, dressing up your best, shopping till your money lasts and a

The Blue Whale that exists around all of us!

It was only yesterday that I was curious enough to open a video link put up on a social networking site, which made me understand what the blue whale game is all about! I was shocked thinking what would have made someone design such a thing, and even more surprised thinking what is making people attempt to be a part of it! After a couple of discussions with my friends yesterday and today I was certain that this isn’t just about this so-called game/app or whatever you call it, there is certainly some bigger chaos that is existing which is manifesting in the making, and in peoples involvement in apps and games like this! The wave of getting everything fast and the wave to be perfect is seeming to gulp all of us. For instance, the same knowledge which came after loads of efforts has now come to our fingertips, the same things which were acquired by years of hard work are a necessity as soon as one starts earning money! The same love which was nurtured with time sees its high and low p

BEING F.R.I.E.N.D.S!!!!

I was half in my sleep when I looked at my phone just to check the time, and instead, I found a long list of messages which took me by a sweet surprise, because I realized, that it was the friendships day morning! I remember the same day roughly three years back when I was not such a great advocator of the necessity for such days to exist…But this morning I surely realized the necessity, because looking at the gesture by so many people in my contact list I almost forgot the other million things in my mind which I had slept with, and which had been bothering me for a few days now… Being friends I guess is the only relation we truly choose ourselves, and where we can be truly ourselves as well! Friends are no obligations and not bound by threads of responsibility either. Friends are those all time buffers in our lives which keep us strong enough to face all the big and small rough patches we go through, and keep us happy enough in our good times when they show up on all the occasions

Social Media: Something that boosts you or something that pulls you down?

Social Media! Woof! Well, where do I start from? Be it Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Linked In, Viber or even Whatsapp there are endless applications that are available today! And of course with the availability of high storage capacity memory cards one can afford to have them all in their phone; except yes, for the poor iPhone users like me, who may afford it only after making or buying some space in their cloud storage. In either case, with social media we have an enormous connectivity with our ‘loved’ or even the ‘not so loved one’ these days. Where probably walking out of a relationship was rather simpler in the olden days, where a tear was shed, and a number was blocked, now the same takes hell lot of efforts due to the same enormous connectivity.  For instance, while you may be just trying to forget your ex and may have removed him from your facebook and twitter, he may appear on Instagram all of a sudden because of some mutual followers. Well, delete, delete, delete

The man who made your house! A short film

Here is a sneak peek into what the UP state is up to while some of its fellows are away!

While all my fellow Upites and other migrant north Indians who are fortunate to be residing in the most amazing metropolitan cities and are busy in the hustle and bustle of their happening lives in their respective IT and related companies, there is a lot that’s happening back home as well! It's election time and the roads are full of banners, the FM channels are full of advertisements and the front page of the newspaper always has something or the other to say about a recent rally or a campaign by some or the other political party. I have always been a little away from politics, in fact, even I have been a migrant for most of the years that I have lived till now so I never had an insight of what goes on in my own state. But now that I am back in Lucknow, willingly and or unwillingly I am surrounded by endless news on almost all the sources of information that you can think of about the upcoming elections, and trust me it has caught both my attention and interest. While the rul
